Ken Larsen's Web Site - My favorite free tools

Here's a list of my favorite tools that can be downloaded for free from the internet:

Google Earth

Download from:  http://earth.google.com/

Google Earth gives you awesome 3D high resolution aerial views of virtually any place on earth.  It's even got a measuring tool to measure distances between cities, a jogging route or distances on a golf course.

Google Language Translator https://translate.google.com/
iSpring Screen recording and video editing software

I bought a Plantronics Audio DSP microphone/headset for $ 59 at Staples.  It provides excellent audio quality for the iSpring software.  After creating a video with ISpring, I edit it using MovieMaker ... adding a title page and creating an MP4 file.
Movie Maker Video editing software that is part of the Windows Essentials Program Suite which can be downloaded from https://windows-essentials.en.softonic.com/

How I use Movie Maker

ScreenHunter

Download from:

Captures a screen image as a jpg file.  I used this with Snowie to produce backgammon flash cards.

SignupGenius http://www.signupgenius.com/

Great tool to organize volunteers for an event.

Skype

Download from:  http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/home

You can talk to anyone over the Internet for free with Skype.   All you need on your PC is a microphone (about $ 10 at BestBuy or Staples) and speakers.  Clarity is better than a phone!

Skype version 2 supports video!  (However:  you must have Windows XP as your operating system.)  On February 26, 2006 I bought a Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 web camera for $ 85.59 (including tax) after learning that it scored high marks in some reviews I found on the web.
