On October 11, 2007 a very tame but lost parakeet swooped down on my son and I as we got ready to play the first hole of the Occoneechee Golf Course in Hillsborough, North Carolina. It obviously had escaped from a nearby home.After playing with it for a while, rather than leave it to fend for itself outdoors, I extended my hand for the bird to jump on. I then paraded it to the clubhouse where one of the workers made a makeshift cage out of two driving range buckets. Later another worker took it home to join two birds he already had.
