Ken Larsen's website - Symbiosis
Symbiosis is a close relationship between two different kinds of living things.
There are six types of symbiotic relationships:
Type | Explanation | Example |
Predation | The preying of one animal on another like one animal consuming another. | Wolves hunting moose. |
Parasitism | The parasite benefits; the host is harmed. About 40% of animal species are parasites.
Competition | Two or more organisms rely on the same environmental resource.
Mutualism | Both organisms benefit.
Commensalism | One organism benefits; the other is not significantly harmed or helped.
Herbivory | An animal consumes a producer or plant. |
