Ken Larsen's Backgammon - LEAP tactic     

  

Leap a prime.  Occasionally you have to forget about playing a backgame, because your timing is poor.  Primes can be very difficult to leap, so you should seriously consider leaping them when you have a roll that will permit you to do so.

 

In the position shown red must leap out, because his timing is too poor to support a backgame.  Anything else would be a blunder of at least 0.091.
