Ken Larsen's Backgammon - HITPOINT tactic     

  

Hit and point on a blot in your home board even if it's on your 2-point. 

 

Hitting and pointing is the most powerful kind of hit.  Overlooking it is often a blunder.

 

In the position shown hitting and making the 2-point is better than making the 4-point and not hitting.  Making the 4-point is 0.126 worse.

 

Note that this solution contradicts the AVOID6 tactic as the 2 and 8 points are 6 pips apart.
