Ken Larsen's website:  2019 Election results for Chapel Hill

Note:  the results listed below are unofficial.  They won't become official until November 15, 2019.  A recount may be needed because of the closeness of the Town Council race.  Nancy Oates lost to Tai Huynh by less than 1%.

Ballots cast for all of Orange County was 17.96% (13,745 out of 76,551 registered voters).  I don't know how many were just the Town of Chapel Hill.  Part of the Town of Chapel Hill lies in Durham County.  22 precincts of the Town lie in Orange county; 2 lie in Durham County.

At one point during the counting, it looked like Nancy Oates was going to win by a single vote over Tai Huynh, but then viewers realized that the two precincts in Durham had not been counted.  Those two precincts swung the count in favor of Tai.

Carmen and Louis dropped out of the school board race but too late to have their names removed from the ballot.

Pam, Jessica, Amy, Nancy, and Renuka were CHALT endorsed candidates.  I lobbied for all five for 16 hours spread over five different poll greeting stints (October 22, 25, 29, November 1 and 5).   I also encouraged voters to vote for the four school board candidates who eventually won.

Look at how close the battle was for the 4th Town Council seat.  Only 85 votes separated four people for that final spot.  This election clearly demonstrated that every vote matters.

Friendenemies

Poll greeters during the last shift on Election Day at Grace Church

Left-to-right:  Hannah Snow (campaign manager for Tai Huynh), Woody Setzer (Booker Creek precinct chair), Camille Berry, and me.

We're all Democrats, but I represented CHALT, and the other three represented non-CHALT candidates.  You might call us "Friendenemies" because our time together was a roller coaster of laughs and tension.  We got along super well ... until a voter approached.  Then, it was me versus the other three to influence the voter.
